Cohere: A prototype for contested collective intelligence

چکیده
This paper presents the rationale for treating Contested Collective Intelligence (CCI) as a significant and distinctive dimension of the broader Collective Intelligence design space for organizations. CCI is contrasted with other forms of CI, and building on research in sensemaking, and the modeling of dialogue and debate, we motivate a set of requirements for an ideal CCI platform. We then describe a social, semantic annotation tool called Cohere, which serves as our working prototype of the CCI concept, now being deployed in several communities. Author

So far Open Educational Resources (OER) research has focused on the objective to ‘open’ education by making accessible free educational resources to the world. In the latest years the movement has matured, and a growing amount of OER have been made available by universities, researchers and scholars through several portals. Nonetheless, the level of adoption of OERs into common teaching practic...
متن کاملBoundary Infrastructures for Conversational Knowledge Federation
One of the primary tools of collective intelligence is conversation. Conversation takes many forms, from interactive storytelling, to an emerging lingua franca of structured conversation, Issue-based information systems (IBIS) and related forms of contested discourse. Conversation federation facilitates improved collective intelligence for sensemaking and for decision making. Federating convers...
متن کاملUsing Social Network Analysis to Support Collective Decision-Making Process
Current traditional technologies, while enabling effective knowledge sharing and accumulation, seem to be less supportive of knowledge organization, use and consensus formation, as well as of collaborative decision making process. To address these limitations and thus to better foster collective decisionmaking around complex and controversial problems, a new family of tools is emerging able to ...
متن کاملIdentifying overlapping communities using multi-agent collective intelligence
The proposed algorithm in this research is based on the multi-agent particle swarm optimization as a collective intelligence due to the connection between several simple components which enables them to regulate their behavior and relationships with the rest of the group according to certain rules. As a result, self-organizing in collective activities can be seen. Community structure is crucial...
متن کاملKnowledge Federation as Hypermedia Discourse
The motivation behind the concept of Knowledge Federation resonates closely with the orientation of the Hypermedia Discourse project and the Knowledge Cartography focus of a forthcoming book. We are concerned with the co-evolution of new tools and practices for “bringing together” ideas, sharing the KF orientation that meaning is always contextualised, that truth is often contested, and that so...
